Social Industrial Organizational Psychology Student Research Fund
Help Send Our Students to Research Conferences! SIOPSA — NEW Stretch Goal of $4,000
We are the Social-Industrial-Organizational Psychology Student Association (SIOPSA) at NIU. The SIOPSA is a graduate student organization dedicated to advancing research, professional development and applied practice in the field of psychology. Our mission is to support students as they develop into scholars and practitioners who make institutions more effective.
We are raising funds to help our students present their research at national and regional conferences, attend professional development events and bring guest speakers to campus. Conference participation is critical for graduate students, as it helps us share our work, build professional networks and prepare for successful careers in academia and applied settings.
Your support will directly fund conference registration, travel, and lodging, as well as networking events that foster collaboration between NIU students, alumni and professionals in the field. Every donation, no matter the size, helps create equitable access to these opportunities for all students in our program. For many graduate students, cost is a significant barrier to attending these opportunities; registration fees, travel, and lodging quickly add up, often making professional development financially out of reach. By investing in SIOPSA, you’re investing in the next generation of psychologists. With your help, we can expand opportunities, elevate student research and proudly represent NIU at conferences across the country.
Budget Breakdown:
- Research Conferences: 90% of our funds will be used to send our students to present at research conferences, including two hallmark conferences for our areas: SIOP (Society for Industrial Organizational Psychology) and MPA (Midwestern Psychological Association). Funds will be used for conference registration, travel, and lodging.
- Community Engagement & Networking: 10% of our funds will be used for hosting networking mixers, alumni panels and community outreach events that connect current students with alumni and potential employers.
