Leroy Mitchell Expendable Scholarship for CHANCE
Help Support the CHANCE Program at NIU!
Have you ever met a NIU CHANCE alumni member? If yes, then you may have heard that the CHANCE Program helped to change their life. Many of those alumni members were impacted positively by the leadership of the longest serving director Dr. Leroy Mitchell.
The McKinley “Deacon” Davis CHANCE Program is a student success and retention program that began in 1968 and has a legacy of 10,000+ participating students. It is time to renew our commitment to the Leroy Mitchell Expendable Scholarship for CHANCE. The scholarship supports junior level students in good academic standing and financial need.
Dr. Mitchell’s legacy in the DeKalb community continues to grow. Recently, DeKalb Community Unit School District 428 named its newest elementary school in honor of Dr. Mitchell. Because Dr. Mitchell’s legacy is significant to how CHANCE impacts students, current CHANCE Director Adriane Hutchinson has a donation match challenge. Adriane will donate a total of $250 – 10 donors X $25+ donations. Help us raise at least $2,000 for the Leroy Mitchell Expendable Scholarship for CHANCE.
