When you attended NIU, tuition was around $400 a year. Today, it’s nearly $15,000—and more than half of our students are the first in their families to attend college. Many of those students work long hours just to stay enrolled. Some face impossible choices: pay tuition or fix the car they need to get to class.

This is where you come in.

The Golden Huskie Promise Expendable Fund, a proud extension of NIU’s Huskie Promise initiative and part of NIU's FORWARD campaign, empowers students to overcome financial barriers and thrive—inside and outside the classroom. Your gift supports scholarships, hands-on learning, career development, and emergency aid.

Boost Your Giving Power!

When $50,000 is raised for the Golden Huskie Promise Expendable Fund, Double Huskies Glenn ’73 and Sharon Hollister, ’92, inspired by their belief in the power of student support, will match that amount with a $50,000 gift to establish their own Golden Huskie Promise Endowment Fund. An expendable fund provides immediate, short-term support using donated funds that can be spent right away, while an endowment fund is invested to generate ongoing funding, offering long-term, sustainable support.
