Help Support the HuskieVerse!
HuskieVerse, our innovative digital maker space located in the Office of Innovation's 71 North Partnership Studio, aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application by offering an immersive learning environment. Studies reveal that while students often graduate with strong theoretical knowledge, they frequently need more practical skills and hands-on experience crucial for today's workforce. HuskieVerse harnesses the power of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) to create a dynamic and interactive learning environment. By modeling a game development studio, HuskieVerse mirrors the modern workplace by enabling a hands-on approach to enhance technical abilities and cultivates essential 21st-century transferable skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and project management. Donations received will allow us to scale in the number of students we are able to serve through more equipment purchases (eg VR headsets), software platforms and applications that provide the educational and skill development experiences.
In addition to addressing modern educational needs, HuskieVerse also emphasizes the promotion of inclusivity and collaboration, bridging various disciplines and supporting accessibility by leveraging resources from the XR Accessibility Project. This initiative reflects our commitment to accessible innovation, preparing students for the workforce while fostering social responsibility in cultivating a culture of mutual learning and ensuring that our digital maker space is a place where innovation meets inclusivity.
The impact of HuskieVerse extends beyond technical proficiency and prepares a group of confident, skilled, and innovative thinkers. We contribute to building a workforce capable of addressing complex global challenges with creative and impactful solutions. HuskieVerse students will emerge not just as job seekers but as job creators and leaders, ready to make significant contributions to their fields and society.
Examples of success
HuskieVerse Student Impact: Vespa Mode
One of the most exciting examples of HuskieVerse's impact is Vespa Mode, a student-driven project that integrates engineering, computer science, and creative storytelling to build a fully immersive Vespa simulation experience. This project showcases how HuskieVerse empowers students to collaborate across disciplines and apply their skills to real-world, innovative solutions.
Why Vespa Mode Matters
Vespa Mode exemplifies the HuskieVerse mission of ”providing students with real-world, hands-on experience in VR/AR development while fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.
This project:

- Creates an innovative, interactive learning tool for education, training, and entertainment.
- Demonstrates the power of collaboration, blending STEM and creative disciplines to push the boundaries of VR.
HuskieVerse Student Impact: Mindful Moments Research Project
Another compelling example of student-led experimentation and research within HuskieVerse is the Mindful Moments Research Project—a novel study exploring the potential of Virtual Reality (VR) for mindfulness and mental wellness for college students. This initiative highlights HuskieVerse's commitment to empowering students to push the boundaries of immersive technology in health and well-being.
The Impact: Redefining Mental Wellness Through VR
This research has the potential to revolutionize how mindfulness and mental health interventions are delivered, particularly for students and individuals facing high-stress environments. The study aims to:
- Demonstrate VR as a powerful tool for mental wellness, providing an innovative way to practice mindfulness.
- Create accessible, technology-driven wellness solutions that can be used in universities, workplaces, and healthcare settings.
- Prepare students for careers in digital health and public health innovation, giving them real-world research experience.
Why It Matters
The Mindful Moments Research Project showcases how HuskieVerse fosters student-led innovation, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. By supporting this initiative, donors will help advance cutting-edge research that blends public health with immersive technology, leading to impactful solutions for mental wellness in the digital age.
HuskieVerse Student Impact: Community Engagement & Outreach
VR First-Timer Events: HuskieVerse hosts outreach events where students introduce first-time users to VR, building confidence and excitement around immersive technology.
Example: The VR Immersion Event allowed students to guide newcomers through VR simulations, fostering leadership and communication skills.
Example: The VR MLK One Dream experience promotes Black History Month and diversity.
