Student Athlete Academic Support Services (SAASS) offers academic and personal development for over 400 student athletes every year. All programs and services are designed to enhance the experience of the student athlete in the academic, athletic and campus communities. SAASS is housed in the Yordon Center, built in 2007, and is the hub for academic advising, tutoring, study tables, student-athlete themed classes and programming and houses Athletics Counseling.
SAASS is committed to providing a top-notch learning environment for our student athletes. To achieve this, we are seeking your support to upgrade our classroom furniture and technology. Our current equipment is outdated and no longer meets the needs of today's students. Much of the furniture in the SAASS space is original to the buildings inception and is in dire need of replacement. By investing in new furniture and technology, we can create a more comfortable, efficient, and collaborative space where our student athletes can thrive academically. Your generous contribution will directly impact the success of our students and help us maintain our reputation as a leader in student-athlete support services.
SAASS’s goal at Northern Illinois University is to provide programs and resources to help student athletes excel in the classroom, in the community, and after graduation. Our mission is to help foster personal development and lifelong learning. Any barriers such as outdated technology and a less than optimal learning environment cause unwarranted challenges. This year’s Huskies Invest: A Week of Giving campaign is an initiative created to raise funds for our student athletes, programs, facilities, and departments. It is our sincere hope you will consider supporting the initiative to upgrade what we offer to the SAASS community. We thank you for any contribution you can make.
