With the fifth-largest population of Asian Americans, Illinois is the first state in the U.S. to require Asian American histories be taught in public schools with the Teaching Equitable Asian American History Act (TEAACH Act), which went into effect January 1, 2022. We at the AACP are proud to lead our NIU community to prepare our Huskies for the knowledge and skills needed in their careers to better serve the fast growing Asian American population in the nation. Scholarship investment will ensure that we continue to meet the needs of our growing student body.
With your generous support, we hope to:
Ensure that generations of students will have the opportunity to study and learn about the Asian American experience;
Provide necessary funds to collaborate with campus offices and cultural centers (e.g., Asian American Resource Center and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies) to recruit students; and
Encourage more Asian American high school and community college students to attend NIU
THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTFUL CONSIDERATION OF THIS INVITATION.
