*** HELP US REACH OUR $3,000 FUNDRAISING GOAL DURING LATINO HERITAGE MONTH ***

The mission of the Northern Illinois University Latino Alumni Council (LAC) is to assist in the unification of alumni efforts to further and support the interests of NIU.

This is accomplished by:

1. Networking, advocacy and actively engaging Latina/o/x members of the NIU community and others.
2. Maintaining and promoting a network for the empowerment and advancement of Latino/a/x alumni at NIU.
3. Maximizing the academic and social experience of Latino/a/x students at NIU, to serve as a representative voice for Latino/a/x alumni.
4. Sponsoring professional development and providing financial support via the LAC Engagement Scholarship.

The Latino Alumni Council has launched the LAC Engagement Scholarship, tailored for students who are at a sophomore level or above, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and can demonstrate how their experiences have fostered an understanding of, and commitment to, addressing issues of diversity and inclusion in Latinx communities. While we raise funds all year, we’ll be launching a special fundraiser during Latino Heritage Month with a goal of raising $3,000.

As alumni, we know the significance of a college degree not only for ourselves but what it means for our families and community and many of our lives have been significantly impacted by scholarship support. Your donations will make a difference in the lives of students by aiding their educational journey, promoting a positive experience at NIU, supporting their personal and career goals, and helping retain and graduate current and future Huskies.

We have many opportunities ahead to connect, give back, and hear from you as we continue building a strong network for our Huskies. Make sure to connect with us as there is much more to come!
