The heartbeat of any marching band is the drumline, and this is especially true for the Huskie Marching Band of Northern Illinois University. We are particularly proud of the skill, commitment and dedication of the members of our drumline. Like the whole of the marching band, drumline members are drawn from nearly every major on campus. They are drawn to the marching band based on their love of music, the joy they find in performing, and their pride in supporting the Huskies.
These hard-working men and women need quality instruments to support NIU and to help the band sound their best, Our current drumline instruments are worn beyond repair to the point that it is affecting their sound. Several of the wooden shells have broken, the metal is wearing out or shearing away on many others, and many of the harnesses have broken. The drums are old enough that it is difficult to find replacement parts to repair them. Every working drum is now in use, which makes it impossible to provide percussion equipment for our Alumni at Homecoming.
The solution is simple....we need YOUR help to purchase a new drumline! Generous support has already provided nearly $20,000 towards a new drumline. We are seeking a total of $50,000 to provide funds to purchase new instruments and maintain our current ones. Every donation helps, so please help today. Please also share this message with your network of family and friends, and invite them to help as well. New instruments would save thousands of dollars per year on repairs, and help with recruiting. We need your help to look and sound our very best!
